Nov. 03, 2020 1pm (Zoom)	Michael Kompatscher (Oxford University, UK) X Even though nilpotent algebras with a Maltsev term have many pleasant algebraic properties, they are not completely understood from a computational point of view. This concerns in particular the complexity of the circuit equivalence problem CEQV(A), i.e. the problem of deciding whether an equation of polynomials p(x_1,…,x_k) = q(x_1,…,x_k), encoded by circuits, holds for all values in the algebra A; and the closely related circuit satisfiability problem CSAT(A), which asks if there is a solution to such an equation. In a previous talk in Boulder I showed how, under the assumption of an open conjecture in circuit complexity, there are algorithms with quasipolynomial running time O(e^{log(n)^c}) for both CEQV(A) and CSAT(A), for all finite nilpotent Maltsev algebras A. Assuming the Exponential Time Hypothesis, Idziak, Kawalek and Krzaczkowski, recently showed proper quasipolynomial lower bounds (i.e. c>1) on the complexity for some nilpotent algebras. Thus, under the assumption of both conjectures, there are nilpotent algebras A such that CEQV(A) and CSAT(A) can be solved in quasipolynomial, but not polynomial time. In this talk I would like to discuss their proof and outline how to generalize it to all nilpotent algebras of Fitting length >= 3 (work in progress). CEQV and CSAT for nilpotent Maltsev algebras

The Zhu algebra and its generalizations by Dong-Li-Mason are very special subalgebras of A^{\infty}(V). I will also introduce the new subalgebras A^{N}(V) of A^{\infty}(V), which can be viewed as obtained from finite matrices with entries in V. I will then discuss the relations between lower-bounded generalized V-modules and suitable modules for these associative algebras. This talk is based on the paper arXiv:2009.00262. Nov. 10, 2020 1pm (Zoom)	Zurab Janelidze (University Stellenbosch, South Africa) X A “form” is a category equipped with abstract subobject posets for its objects and “connections” between those posets induced by morphisms of the category. In this talk we present an application of this structure in developing a self-dual approach to homomorphism theorems for group-like universal algebras. We call a form satisfying the axioms necessary for obtaining the standard isomorphism theorems a “noetherian form”. Examples of noetherian forms abound (in some of the examples, though, the isomorphism theorems trivialize). For instance, any bounded lattice can be viewed as a noetherian form with a trivial base category. Furthermore, not only group-like universal algebras (e.g., modules, groups, rings with or without unit, loops, etc.), but even any variety of universal algebras can be viewed as a noetherian form, thanks to the fact that the category of sets has the structure of a noetherian form (a non-trivial fact, since the two natural forms, that of subsets and that of equivalence relations, are both non-neotherian). Nov. 10, 2020 2pm (zoom)	Lie Theory Hugh Thomas (Université du Québec à Montréal) X Full heaps are an interesting collection of posets defined by Richard Green, associated to an extended Dynkin diagram and a choice of two extending nodes. They were introduced for Lie-theoretic applications. I will describe a different way to construct them (in the simply-laced cases) based on the representation theory of quivers. I will not assume that the audience is familiar with the theory of quiver representations, so I will try to give a bit of an introduction to them. This is based on joint work with Al Garver and Becky Patrias, and is motivated by our study of affine type generalizations of the RSK correspondence. I won't have time to say much about that, but I will at the very least attempt to explain how we use full heaps to define an affine version of reverse plane partitions. In this talk, I will outline some results about vector bundles on projective spaces, including my ongoing work on complex rank 3 topological vector bundles on CP^5. In particular, I will describe a classification of such bundles which involves a surprising connection to topological modular forms; a concrete, rank-preserving additive structure which allows for the construction of new rank 3 bundles on CP^5 from "simple" ones; and future directions related to this project. Nov. 17, 2020 1pm (Zoom)	Erkko Lehtonen (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal) X The associative spectrum was introduced by Csákány and Waldhauser in 2000 as a method of quantifying the non-associativity of binary operations or the corresponding groupoids. The associative spectrum of a groupoid G is an integer sequence, the n-th member of which equals the number of distinct term operations induced on G by the bracketings of n variables. Graph algebras were introduced by Shallon in 1979 and provide a useful representation of directed graphs as algebras with a binary operation. In this talk, we report our work on associative spectra of graph algebras. We classify undirected graphs according to the associative spectra of their graph algebras; there are only three distinct possibilities: constant 1, powers of 2, and Catalan numbers. For arbitrary digraphs, the situation is considerably more complicated. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for a graph algebra to satisfy a given bracketing identity, expressed in terms of several numerical structural parameters associated, on the one hand, with the graph and, on the other hand, with a pair of bracketings. Based on this, we establish bounds on the possible associative spectra of graph algebras; such a spectrum is either a constant sequence bounded above by 2 or it grows exponentially. This stands in stark contrast with associative spectra of arbitrary groupoids, for which other constant and subexponential spectra are also possible. Nilpotent Slodowy slices appear as associated varieties of admissible (simple) W-algebras. They also appear as Higgs branches of the Argyres-Douglas theories in 4d N=2 SCFT’s. These two facts are linked by the so-called Higgs branch conjecture. In this talk I will explain how to exploit the geometry of nilpotent Slodowy slices to study some properties of W-algebras whose motivation stems from physics. In particular I will be interested in collapsing levels for W-algebras. This is a joint work (still in preparation) with Tomoyuki Arakawa and Jethro van Ekeren. Nov. 19, 2020 2pm (Zoom)	DeLong Barry Simon (Cal Tech) X During the last 20 years there has been a considerable literature on a collection of related mathematical topics: higher degree versions of Poncelet’s Theorem, certain measures associated to some finite Blaschke products and the numerical range of finite dimensional completely non-unitary contractions with defect index 1. I will explain that without realizing it, the authors of these works were discussing Orthogonal Polynomials on the Unit Circle (OPUC). This will allow us to use OPUC methods to provide illuminating proofs of some of their results and in turn to allow the insights from this literature to tell us something about OPUC. For example, much of the theory of Mal'cev varieties can be reproduced in the purely categorical context of Mal'cev categories. Then, the famous result that a variety is congruence-permutable if and only if it has a Mal'cev term t(x,y,y)=x and t(x,x,y)=y can be seen as a syntactical characterisation of this categorical condition. In this talk, we present such a characterisation for the categorical condition of co-extensivity, where a category C is said to be co-extensive if for each pair of objects X,Y in C, the canonical functor ×:X/C×Y/C?(X×Y)/Cis an equivalence. As a motivating example, we begin by considering the property of commutative semirings that to present a commutative semiring S as a product is exactly to find two elements of S which sum to 1 and whose product is 0. This very naturally implies that the variety of commutative semirings is co-extensive, and it then becomes interesting to ask exactly which other varieties are co-extensive. In order to answer this question, we first characterise the weaker condition of left co-extensivity. We then show that any co-extensive variety must have what we call a 'diagonalising term'. Lastly, we complete the characterisation by finding a sufficient and necessary set of identities this term must satisfy in order for the variety to be co-extensive. Nov. 24, 2020 2pm (MATH 350)	Lie Theory Tianyuan Xu (CU Boulder) X Lusztig's $a$ -function on a Coxeter group $W$ is a function that takes a constant nonnegative integer value on each Kazhdan--Lusztig cell of $W$ . The function plays a key role in the study of the cells of $W$ and the cell representations of the Hecke algebra of $W$ , but it is also very difficult to compute. For an element $w$ in $W$ , we have $a(w)=0$ if and only if $w$ is the identity and $a(w)=1$ if and only if $w$ has a unique nonempty reduced word; moreover, the elements of $a$ -values 0 and 1 each form a single two-sided cell. We report on some extensions of these results about the set $W2$ of elements with $a$ -value 2. In particular, we classify Coxeter groups $W$ where $W2$ is finite, count $W2$ , and describe the partition of $W2$ into cells when $W2$ is finite. If time allows, we will also discuss a connection between cell representations associated to $W2$ and the reflection representation of $W$ in types $A D E$ . (Joint work with Richard Green.) Nov. 25, 2020 5pm (Zoom (vir…	Rep Theory Shoma Sugimoto (Kyoto University) X For a finite dimensional simply-laced simple Lie algebra $g$ and an integer $p≥ 2$ , we can attach the logarithmic $W$ -algebra $W(p)Q$ . When $g=sl2$ , $W(p)Q$ is called the triplet $W$ -algebra, and studied by many people as one of the most famous examples of $C2$ -cofinite but irrational vertex operator algebra. However, apart from the triplet $W$ -algebra, not much is known about the log $W$ -algebras $W(p)Q$ . In this talk, after we construct $W(p)Q$ and their modules $W(p,λ)Q$ geometrically along the preprint of Feigin-Tipunin, first we show the simplicity, $Wk(g)$ -module structure, and character formula of $W(p,λ)Q$ when $\sqrt{p} \bar{λ}$ is in the closure of the fundamental alcove. In particular, for $p≥ h-1$ , $W(p)Q$ is simple and decomposed into simple $Wk(g)$ -modules. Second we give a purely $W$ -algebraic algorithm to calculate nilpotent elements in the Zhu's $C2$ -algebra of $W(p)Q$ much easier than straightforward way. Using this algorithm to the cases $g=sl3$ and $p=2,3$ , we show that $W(p)Q$ is $C2$ -cofinite in these cases. On the log W-algebra.

A set of tuples is called and algebraic set, if it is the set of all solutions of a system of equations over A. These algebraic sets are the main objects of study in the so-called universal algebraic geometry initiated by Boris Plotkin. It is straightforward to verify that algebraic sets are always closed under C, the centralizer of the clone C. We are interested in algebras for which the converse is also true, i.e., where solution sets of systems of equations can be characterized as C-closed sets of tuples. We prove that this holds if and only if the algebra is polymorphism-homogeneous, and we determine such algebras in several classes of algebras, namely two-element algebras, finite lattices, finite semilattices, finite abelian groups, finite monounary algebras. Dec. 02, 2020 3pm (via zoom)	Math Phys Andrew Hamilton (CU Boulder Astrophysics Department) X The spinors of the group Spin(N) of rotations in N spacetime dimensions are indexed by a bitcode with [N/2] bits. A well-known promising grand unified group that contains the standard-model group is Spin(10). Fermions in the standard model are described by five bits durgb, consisting of two weak bits d and u, and three color bits r, g, b. If a sixth bit T is added, necessary to accommodate a time dimension, then the enlarged Spin(11,1) algebra contains the standard-model and Dirac algebras as commuting subalgebras, unifying all four forces. The largest subgroup of Spin(11,1) that commutes with the Poincare group is Spin(5)xSpin(6), suggesting that the latter is a partial unification on the way to complete unification in Spin(11,1). The Spin(5)xSpin(6) algebra contains a subalgebra with precisely the properties of the electroweak Higgs field. The Spin(5)xSpin(6) symmetry contains, and is spontaneously broken by, a U(1) symmetry related to the U_{B-L}(1) symmetry. Dec. 08, 2020 1pm (Zoom)	Michael Hoefnagel (University Stellenbosch, South Africa) X Consider the Mal’tsev condition on a variety which asserts the existence of an n-ary term p satisfying some equations of the form p(x_1 , . . . , x_n ) = y. Such a Mal’tsev condition can be reformulated within the internal language of an abstract category, using the so-called ‘matrix method’ of Z. Janelidze. The corresponding categorical condition is captured by a matrix of positive integers, and is formally called a closedness property of internal relations, or a ‘matrix property’ for short. Some of these properties follow from (conjunctions of) others, for example, the matrix property corresponding to the equations defining a majority term follows from the matrix property corresponding to a Pixley term. This then is the categorical theorem corresponding the fact that if p(x, y, z) is a Pixley term, then m(x, y, z) = p(x, p(x, y, z), z) is a majority term. The main aim of this talk is to present some recent work together with Z. Janelidze and P.-A. Jacqmin which has produced an algorithm for deciding implications of (conjunctions of) matrix properties in the light context of left-exact categories. Such implications of matrix properties are context sensitive, i.e., they depend on what further conditions the base category satisfies. In particular, we will see that implications of matrix properties in the context of varieties of algebras can be different from the context of left exact categories. Dec. 08, 2020 2pm (MATH 350)	Lie Theory Nat Thiem (CU Boulder) X There are many instances throughout mathematics where the representation theory of algebraic structures becomes prohibitively challenging. In the theory of finite groups, there is a reasonable work-around that is known as a supercharacter theory. The basic idea is to limit attention to modules that are better behaved than irreducible modules, but that still retain many of the nice properties we expect from irreducibles. This talk gives an introduction to this approach with a focus on techniques that might have a chance of extending to other types of algebraic structures. Many such techniques allow the user to tailor a representation theory to specific applications, a process I will illustrate with some examples in combinatorics. Dec. 10, 2020 1pm (Zoom (vir…	Rep Theory Shigenori Nagatsuka (University of Tokyo) X Recently, dualities among W-superalgebras and their affine cosets conjectured by Gaiotto-Rapcak have been established in many cases by Creutzig-Linshaw and Creutzig-Linshaw-Kanade by using universal objects of such algebras. Independently, Creutzig-Genra and I proved the duality in the case of subregular W-algebras and principal W-superalgebras of type A by using free field realizations of those algebras. This point of view upgrades the duality to a "reconstruction theorem" of one of the algebra from the other one. The simplest example is the Kazama-Suzuki coset construction of N=2 superconformal algebra from the affine sl2 vertex algebra and its inverse by Feigin-Semikhatov-Tipunin. In this talk, I will explain this reconstruction theorem and then its application to the representation theory of principal W-superalgebra side in the rational cases. This talk is based on on-going project with Thomas Creutzig, Naoki Genra and Ryo Sato Duality of subregular W-algebras and principal W-superalgebras of type A and their representations in rational cases.

While CSP is a computational problem, it leads to many purely mathematical questions in logic, algebra, category theory, and combinatorics. CSP (and its variants) will be the main theme of this semester's Ulam seminar. The complexity of CSP depends on the expressive power of the predicates that we allow. In the talk, we will look at the project of classifying the complexity of CSP on finite structures where there turned out to be a clear dividing line between "easy" and "hard" languages. The algebra A_1^{(1)} (or, sl_2^) was "understood" in this sense a few decades ago. On q-series side, this leads to identities of Gordon-Andrews and Andrews-Bressoud. In this talk, I'll present q-series identities related to the next "simplest" affine Lie algebra, namely, A_2^{(2)}. Here, we get six families of q-series identities confirming a conjecture of McLaughlin and Sills. The main machinery used is that of Bailey pairs and Bailey lattices. We show how to construct an infinite family of such algebras via group actions and that certain subsets of this family generate the varieties generated by hypertournament algebras, an n-ary analogue of tournament algebras. The group action construction allows us to find automorphisms of these algebras and determine their congruence lattices. We'll discuss how these results may aid in finding a (necessarily infinite) basis for the variety generated by tournament algebras, which to this author's knowledge remains an open problem. However, polymorphisms also help us better understand relational structures. A popular type of relational structure is the directed graph (digraph). It turns out that polymorphisms of directed graphs are close to being as general as possible: Jakub Bulin, Dejan Delic, Marcel Jackson and Todd Niven have shown that for each relational structure A there is a digraph G such that A and G are, roughly speaking, the same with respect to having many types of polymorphisms. However, one notable exception are the so-called Maltsev polymorphisms; we will show that whenever a digraph has Maltsev polymorphism, it must also have a majority polymorphism. Jan. 26, 2021 1pm (Zoom)	Jason Parker (Brandon University) X In [2], my PhD supervisors (Pieter Hofstra and Philip Scott) and I studied the new topos-theoretic phenomenon of isotropy (as introduced in [1]) in the context of single-sorted algebraic theories, and we gave a logical/syntactic characterization of the isotropy group of any such theory, thereby showing that it encodes a notion of inner automorphism or conjugation for the theory. In the present talk, I will summarize the results of my recent PhD thesis, in which I build on this earlier work by studying the isotropy groups of (multi-sorted) quasi-equational theories (also known as essentially algebraic, cartesian, or finite limit theories). In particular, I will show how to give a logical/syntactic characterization of the isotropy group of any such theory, and that it encodes a notion of inner automorphism or conjugation for the theory. I will also describe how I have used this characterization to exactly characterize the ‘inner automorphisms’ for several different examples of quasi-equational theories, most notably the theory of strict monoidal categories and the theory of presheaves valued in a category of models. In particular, the latter example provides a characterization of the (covariant) isotropy group of a category of set-valued presheaves, which had been an open question in the theory of categorical isotropy. In PCSP, we are promised that either there exists a homomorphism from A to B, or there is even no homomrphism from A to a structure C; our goal is to decide between these two cases. An example of PCSP is PCSP(K_3,K_4), where we are deciding if the input graph is 3-colorable or not even 4-colorable. The natural generalization of polymorphisms to pairs of structure are minions of polymorphisms. Minons have very little structure; compared to algebras we lose the ability to compose operations. Surprisingly, what little structure is left still leads to nontrivial mathematics. In the talk, we will have a look at polymorphisms in general and polymorphisms from K_3 to K_4 in particular. In general, A is not uniquely determined by Proj $k(A)$ , but if V happens to have a (k+1)-near unanimity term, then Kirby Baker and Alden Pixley show that this is the case. They also show that if a variety V satisfies this uniqueness property for all subalgebras of direct products of its members, then it must have a (k+1)-ary near unanimity term. In this talk I will consider the following existence question: Given a system of k-fold projections $Γ$ over some direct product $Πi≤ nAi$ of algebras $A_{i}$ from a variety V, under what circumstances will there exist a subalgebra A of $Πi≤ n Ai$ such that $Γ=$ Proj $k(A)$ ? In promise graph coloring, we ask if at least an approximation is feasible: given a graph promised to be 3-colorable, say, can we efficiently find a 100-coloring? To prove that even this relaxed problem is hard, we study polymorphisms (think: algebraic relations between solutions). It turns out that in some cases, basic topological tools give a very direct understanding of those polymorphisms, seeing them as continuous maps from toruses to spheres. In a [LICS '19] paper it was shown that a specific PCSP, the problem to find a valid Not-All-Equal solution to a 1-in-3-SAT instance, is not finitely tractable in that it can be solved by a trivial reduction to a tractable CSP, but such a CSP is necessarily over an infinite domain (unless P=NP). We further explore this phenomenon: we give a general necessary condition for finite tractability and characterize finite tractability within a class of templates - the "basic" tractable cases in the dichotomy theorem for symmetric Boolean PCSPs allowing negations by Brakensiek and Guruswami [SODA'18]. Feb. 11, 2021 11am (Zoom)	Noncomm Geometry Manuel Rivera (Purdue University) X I will describe the sense in which the coalgebraic structure of the singular chains on a connected space determines its fundamental group in complete generality. An extension of Adams’ classical cobar theorem, from simply connected spaces to spaces with arbitrary fundamental group, lies at the bottom of this new observation. The key idea is to consider the singular chains as an E-infinity coalgebra under a notion of weak equivalence drawn from the Koszul duality theory of co/associative structures. This leads to an extension of rational homotopy theory of nilpotent spaces to spaces with arbitrary fundamental group, where the notion of weak equivalence between spaces is defined to be a continuous map inducing an isomorphism on fundamental groups and an isomorphism on higher rationalized homotopy groups. I will also describe how these constructions may be used to obtain a Hochschild type model for the free loop space of a non-simply connected space that is potentially useful for studying string topology. We show how results on the degree can be used (i) to get lower bounds on the number of solutions of equations, and (ii) to connect nilpotency and supernilpotency. It was actually shown that, along with some natural assumptions, if this Hermitian form (which is necessarily non-degenerate) is positive, namely, if it is an inner product, then $Rep(V)$ is unitary. The crucial step of this story is to prove the positivity of the Hermitian form. When we input quantum functions on GL(N) the output is $L(kN)$ , the irreducible DAHA representation indexed by an $N \times k$ rectangle. For the specified parameters $L(kN)$ is Y-semisimple, i.e. one can diagonalize the Dunkl operators. We give an explicit combinatorial description of this module via its Y-weight basis. Feb. 24, 2021 4pm (via zoom)	Math Phys Howie Jordan (University of Colorado) X Contextuality is a fundamental feature of quantum mechanics whereby we realize that the measurements we make of a quantum system depend crucially on the context in which we make them. One might hope that there are preexisting parameters with definite values underlying quantum mechanics, which some more fundamental theory could use to explain the measurements we observe. Theorems of Bell, Kochen, and Specker established that this cannot be the case. Underlying such theorems is a common theme: information available locally (i.e., on restricted contexts) cannot be extended globally. This realization led to a reformulation of contextuality in terms of (pre)sheaves, a mathematical tool capturing the essence of such local-global problems. In this talk, we will overview this sheaf theoretic treatment of contextuality. Presheaves defined over the commutative subalgebras of a C*-Algebra play a central role. We reformulate the Kochen-Specker theorem, the original inspiration for this approach. We also view the broader idea of sheaf-theoretic contextuality from this setting, including the connection to sheaf cohomology and topos theory. In this talk we will look at how to define the category of valued structures to get nice products in this cateogory. In particular, we will want weighted polymorphisms of a structure A to correspond to mappings from powers of A to A. This will require generalizing the notion of valued relational structure. Illustrating this, we note that $ℵ1$ -free groups, and in particular the question of when $ℵ1$ -free groups are free, were central to the resolution of the Whitehead problem as undecidable. In elucidating the relationship between $ℵ1$ -freeness and freeness, we prove the following result: an abelian group $G$ is $ℵ1$ -free in a countable transitive model of $ZFC$ (and thus by absoluteness, in every transitive model of $ZFC$ ) if and only if it is free in some generic model extension. We would like to answer the more specific question of when an $ℵ1$ -free group can be forced to be free while preserving the cardinality of the group. For groups of size $ℵ1$ , we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for when such forcings are possible. We also identify a number of existing and novel forcings which force such $ℵ1$ -free groups of size $ℵ1$ to become free with cardinal preservation. These forcings lay the groundwork for a larger project which uses forcing to explore various algebraic properties of $ℵ1$ -free groups and develops new set-theoretical tools for working with them. Mar. 09, 2021 4:30pm (MATH 3…	Lie Theory Liron Speyer (Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology) X I will first give a brief survey of some previous results with Louise Sutton, in which we found a large family of decomposable Specht modules for the Hecke algebra of type $B$ indexed by `bihooks'. We conjectured that outside of some degenerate cases, our family gave all decomposable Specht modules indexed by bihooks. There, our methods largely relied on some hands-on computation with Specht modules, working in the framework of cyclotomic KLR algebras. I will then move on to discussing a recent project with Rob Muth and Louise Sutton, in which we have studied the structure of these Specht modules. By transporting the problem to one for Schur algebras via a Morita equivalence of Kleshchev and Muth, we are able to give all composition factors (including their grading shifts), and show that in most characteristics, these Specht modules are in fact semisimple. In some other small characteristics, we can explicitly determine their structures, including some in which the modules are `almost semisimple'. According to the Kontsevich-Rosenberg's principle a noncommutative geometric structure of some kind on an algebra should induce the corresponding commutative structure on its representation schemes. We are particularly interested in noncommutative Poisson structures, and I will talk about the following two approaches: 1. W. Crawley-Boevey's Poisson structures. They are Lie algebra structures of some kind on the zeroth Hochschild homology of an algebra (generalising the Necklace Lie algebra structure on the space of cyclic paths in a quiver) and they induce Poisson structures on the moduli spaces of representations. 2. M. Van den Bergh's double Poisson structures. They are double brackets which are double derivations in both arguments and satisfy a double version of antisymmetry and the Jacobi identity. One of the main theorems in his thesis solves the geometric problem of classifying manifolds up to bordism by exhibiting an equivalence to a problem in stable homotopy theory. Thom's method makes use of what are now called 'Thom spectra', objects that have since become central in stable homotopy theory. Mar. 16, 2021 1pm (Zoom)	Matthew Moore (University of Kansas) X The Hidden Subgroup Problem (HSP) is a computational problem which includes as special cases integer factorization, the discrete logarithm problem, graph isomorphism, and the shortest vector problem. The celebrated polynomial-time quantum algorithms for factorization and the discrete logarithm are restricted versions of a generic polynomial-time quantum solution to the HSP for abelian groups, but despite focused research no polynomial-time solution for general groups has yet been found. We propose a generalization of the HSP to include arbitrary algebraic structures and analyze this new problem on powers of 2-element algebras. We prove a complete classification of every such power as quantum tractable (i.e. polynomial-time), classically tractable, quantum intractable, or classically intractable. In particular, we identify a class of algebras for which the generalized HSP exhibits super-polynomial speedup on a quantum computer compared to a classical one. Substantial results have been already obtained by Pierfelice. In this talk, we show how to extend the rest of the Fujita-Kato theory of mild solutions from $ℝ^{n}$ to $ℍ^{n}$ . This includes well-posedness results for $L^{n}$ and $Ln∩ Lp$ initial data for $1 < p < n$ , global in time results for small initial data, and $L^{n}$ decay results for both u and $∇ u$ . As part of this, we discuss extending to the hyperbolic space $ℍ^{n}$ known facts in Euclidean space concerning the strong continuity and contractivity of the semigroup generated by the Laplacian. This work, together with Pierfelice’s, contributes to providing a full theory for mild solutions on $ℍ^{n}$ . This a thesis defense. Mar. 18, 2021 11am (Zoom)	Noncomm Geometry Stefano D'Alesio (ETH Zurich) X In this talk, using Van den Bergh' double Poisson structures, I will propose a procedure for noncommutative Poisson reduction, starting from noncommutative Hamiltonian spaces and applying a derived version of `classical' noncommutative Poisson reduction. Working out an example of V. Ginzburg, instead of considering quotients by two-sided ideals generated by noncommutative gauge elements, we lift these to elements in higher homological degrees and introduce a differential to form an analogue of the Koszul complex, and then introduce noncommutative analogues of the BRST generators. I will explain how this is the noncommutative counterpart of the classical BRST complex for representation schemes. The main examples are moduli spaces of representation of quivers, such as Nakajima quiver varieties. Further research possible is to elaborate a noncommutative derived version of quasi-Poisson reduction, with applications to the moduli spaces of flat connections on Riemann surfaces. Kasparov used Fredholm modules to construct K-homology, the dual to K-theory, and his KK-theory. A. Connes defined characters of Fredholm modules into cyclic homology. We will define a generalization of Fredholm modules and we will extend Connes' character theory to this setting. As an application of our generalization, we will extend a result by J. Avron, R. Indeed, when M is without boundary, Costello and Gwilliam have constructed--for each perturbative QFT on M--a factorization algebra of quantum observables. In recent work, some joint with Owen Gwilliam and Brian Williams, I have extended the construction of Costello and Gwilliam to a wide class of theories on manifolds with boundary. In this talk, I will survey these results, beginning with a gentle introduction to the notion of factorization algebra.
