The Muskat problem describes the dynamics of an interface between two fluids in porous media driven by gravity. For a graphical interface with a denser fluid below a lighter fluid, the interface is in a stable regime. On the other hand, a closed curve interface, or bubble, is always in the unstable regime. This instability can be seen in the linearized equation. In this talk, we will discuss how to formulate the bubble problem to deal with this instability.
