Following up on Howy Jordan’s talk, I’ll define the quantum mechanical von Neumann entropy and cover some of its basic properties. This talk will touch on Sections 11.3 and 11.4 of Nielsen and Chuang’s quantum information theory book.
The seminar will be held in hybrid mode. Join Zoom Meeting https://cuboulder.zoom.us/j/94002553301 Passcode 790356
This GSS talk will focus on introducing and motivating the basic tools of algebraic geometry in affine space (and maybe projective space) using commutative rings and fields. We will introduce rational normal curves in affine space and show how we can use these tools to study them. This talk is aimed at people who are curious about what algebraic geometry is about and only knowledge of algebra will be assumed.
