As preparation for a few seminar slots spent learning about the newest bombshell attacks (https://www.quantamagazine.org/post-quantum-cryptography-scheme-is-cracked-on-a-laptop-20220824/) on the SIDH/SIKE protocol in supersingular elliptic curve isogeny-based cryptography, Eli will spend twenty minutes describing how the cryptographic system works, and then Kate will spend twenty minutes on past attacks on the protocol. Next week David will discuss some overview of genus 2 tools and in the third week we will discuss the new attacks. (Plan subject to change!) All are welcome, as we will start from the basics (assuming the audience knows some elliptic curves, but not the cryptography).
