In any given dimension, there are a finite number of possible crystal structures that can exist. In this talk I'll show how group cohomology can be used to classify such crystal structures (and I'll define group cohomology!) We will work out some of the classification for 2-dimensional crystal structures, the so-called "wall paper" groups.
