We are beginning to collect information on the storied history of our Department, its students, and faculty. Please send us information on your recollections to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Below is a book written by former professors Burton Jones and Wolfgang Thron,
chronicling the history of the Department during its first century,
starting from the time the first mathematics instructor arrived in 1878.
Thron and Jones are currently honored by the Department via annual fellowships and awards given in their honor, as are many other legendary faculty described in the book: Ira DeLong, Aubrey Kempner, Frances Stribic, Stanislaw Ulam, William Briggs, Bernard Meyer, Jack Hodges, and Richard Laver.
