Math 1310: Calculus, Systems, & Modeling

Sage

Sage is a free open-source math software system. In Math 1310, we'll be using Sage for computational problems that would be inefficient and/or near-impossible to solve by hand. We'll also use Sage for graphing functions and plotting data from real-world situations.

For this course, you will be required to bring to class, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a device -- laptop or tablet -- with wi-fi and a web browser. You will be using this device to create and run Sage code in your tutorials.

Using Sage

You have several options for running Sage code:

  1. You may log onto the CU Sage server at sage.colorado.edu (recommended option). You should be able to sign in with only your CU Identikey and password.
  2. You can create your own account on the Sagemath Cloud, a free service run by the University of Washington, at cloud.sagemath.org (trickier).
  3. You can install Sage on your own computer by following the installation guide (trickiest).

Sage Worksheets

Below are links to .sws files ("worksheets") that you can download and then upload to run on the Sage server.
