Title: Congruence lattices of locally finite algebras. Speaker: Keith Kearnes Affiliation: CU Time: 3pm, Monday, January 24 Location: Math 220 Abstract: James Schmerl asked if every algebraic lattice is isomorphic to the congruence lattice of a locally finite algebra. In this talk I will answer Schmerl's question negatively by identifying a property satisfied by congruence lattices of locally finite algebras that is not satisfied by the subgroup lattice of SO(3).
