Course Outline:
This course is about one variable functions and their properties.
We will cover chapters 2--7, 9 and 10 of the text.

Prerequisites:
The equivalent of Math 102 (Intermediate Algebra) and a year of
high school geometry. Chapter 1 of the text reviews this material.

Quizzes and Tests:
During the semester there will be regularly assigned homework,
weekly quizzes, two in-class exams and a final exam. Your grade
will be based on quizzes and exams. These components of your grade
will be weighted according to the following formula.

Grade = Quiz(20%) + T1(25%) + T2(25%) + Final(30%).

I will not give make up quizzes. Instead I will
not count your two lowest quiz grades, so you
can miss up to two quizzes without it harming your grade.

Scoring:
Written work will be judged on the basis of completeness,
legibility and correctness. Strings of formulas without
explanation will not be accepted. Paragraph organization
(where appropriate), complete sentences and correct punctuation
are expected.

Dates:
Quizzes/Tests: Due Wednesday Spring Break: Mar 15-21
MLK Day: Jan 18 Test 2: Mar 24
Test 1: Feb 10 Last Day of Class: Apr 26

I am available during the office hours listed above and also at
many other times. If you can't see me during office hours, then
make an appointment with me to see me at a different time. I will
