The Putnam Exam at the University of Colorado

What is the Putnam?

The Putnam exam is an annual math competition. Usually in December, students solve 12 problems over two 3-hour sessions. This year (2020), the exam has been postponed until February 20, 2021, and it will only occur in an unofficial format. More details about the Putnam are on the official website of the MAA.

How to participate

Follow the instructions at the official website to register.

The local supervisors (Robin Deeley and Jonathan Wise) will be holding weekly discussion sessions to practice before the Putnam. Meetings will be on Thursdays, 3-4pm, over Zoom. Please contact one of the local supervisors if you are interested in joining the meetings. Problem sessions will continue after the Putnam to discuss the problems from this year's exam.
