The Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado at Boulder ("CU-Boulder") is pleased to host the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America.

We are inviting mathematics teachers at all levels -- middle school, high school and college; as well as undergraduate and graduate students; industry; and government, to contribute and attend. There will be a variety of invited talks and sessions catering to a variety of interests.

PLEASE NOTE: online registration ends 5PM Mountain Time, Wednesday, April 6. Registration for the Friday workshop, chairs' luncheon, and banquet closes 8 PM Mountain Time, Monday, April 4.

Proposals for talks may be submitted here. For full consideration, proposals must be submitted by March 28, 2011.

The meeting will feature four invited speakers (click here for full abstracts of invited talks):

Dr. Edward B. Burger, Professor of Mathematics and Lissack Professor for Social Responsibility and Personal Ethics, Williams College; Robert Foster Cherry Professor for Great Teaching, Baylor University. Title of Talk: "Planting your roots in the natural numbers: A rational and irrational look at 1, 2, 3, 4, ..."

Dr. Joseph W. Dauben, Distinguished Professor, Department of History, Herbert H. Lehman College, CUNY, and Ph.D. Program in History, The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Title of talk: "Writing Biographies: Mathematicians as Historical Subjects."

Dr. Frank Farris, MAA National featured speaker; Professor, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Santa Clara University; past editor of Mathematics Magazine . Title of Talk: "The Gini Index and Measuring Inequality."

Dr. Eric Stade, Professor of Mathematics, University Colorado at Boulder; 2010 Burton W. Jones Distinguished Teaching Award Recipient. Title of talk: "FT's, DFT's, and FFT's, or: Joe Fourier and the Birth of Disco."
