Course Contents
Continuation of MATH 1300. Topics include transcendental functions, methods of integration, polar coordinates, conic sections, improper integrals, and infinite series. Prereq., Calculus 1. Credit not granted for this course and MATH 1320 or APPM 1360. We intend to cover sections 6.9, 7.4, 7.9, 8.2-8.6, 8.8, 9.1, 9.4, chapter 10, and sections 11.1-11.3 (not 11.5) of the book.
Grading
Your grade will be computed from: The final examination score may be curved to produce an appropriate profile. When determining your letter grade, I will take into account (a) your attendance in class (including not walking out early!) (b) the number of homework assignments you completed and (c) improvement during the course.
Tests
There are no midterms in the usual sense, but there will be a 50 minute quiz nearly every Tuesday (but not the first Tuesday). Only your best 10 quiz scores will count towards your grade.
The final examination is on Saturday, December 13 from 4:30pm to 7pm, location to be announced.
Bring your CU student ID to all of your tests.
Recitations will take place on Thursdays in the class venue.
No calculators will be permitted in the quizzes or examinations.
Homework
Each homework will be worth 10 points. There will be more than 30 homeworks, but your homework total will be capped at 300 points, meaning that it is possible to achieve a perfect homework score without scoring 10 on every homework. However, late homework will not be graded. There will usually be three weekly homework assignments, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and these will usually be due at the beginning of class on the following Wednesday, Friday or Monday, respectively. Typically, homework assignments will be returned to you by your TA on Thursday. About 2-4 problems will be graded, with at least one point for completing the assignment.
Students With Disabilities
If you qualify for accommodations because of a disability, please submit to your instructor a letter from Disability Services in a timely manner so that your needs may be addressed. Disability Services determines accommodations based on documented disabilities. Contact: 303-492-8671, Willard 322, and www.Colorado.EDU/disabilityservices.

Disability Services' letters for students with disabilities indicate legally mandated reasonable accommodations. The syllabus statements and answers to Frequently Asked Questions can be found at www.colorado.edu/disabilityservices

Missed Exams
If you know that you cannot take the final exam at the scheduled time, please notify your instructor at least two weeks in advance. If you miss the final exam and have not rescheduled it in advance, you will score zero on the final, and you should expect to fail the course. There will be no make-up quizzes for any reason; however, only your best 10 quiz scores will count, and there will be at least 13 quizzes.
Religious Obligations
Campus policy regarding religious observances requires that faculty make every effort to reasonably and fairly deal with all students who, because of religious obligations, have conflicts with scheduled exams, assignments or required attendance. In this class, you should notify your instructor of any conflict at least two weeks in advance. See full details at http://www.colorado.edu/policies/fac_relig.html.
Student Classroom and Course-Related Behavior
Students and faculty each have responsibility for maintaining an appropriate learning environment. Students who fail to adhere to such behavioral standards may be subject to discipline. Professional courtesy and sensitivity are especially important with respect to individuals and topics dealing with differences of race, culture, religion, politics, sexual orientation, gender variance, and nationalities. Class rosters are provided to the instructor with the student's legal name. Your instructor will gladly honor your request to address you by an alternate name or gender pronoun. Please advise your instructor of this preference early in the semester so that appropriate changes may be made to the records. Please, no open yawning or sleeping in class, and no walking out! See polices at http://www.colorado.edu/policies/classbehavior.html and at http://www.colorado.edu/studentaffairs/judicialaffairs/code.html#student_code
