SEATTLE (AP) - After pulling themselves off of the mat twice during this spring's playoffs, the Seattle Rainiers now get the chance to see how the other half live. With tonight's 5-4 victory over the Florida Hellcats, the Seattle Rainiers now hold a three-games-to-one lead in their quest for their first Farley Cup title, and will skate with the Cup if they can get a win in one of their next three contests. The clubs each converted twice with the man advantage, with Florida striking first on an Ulf Dahlen rebound that sneaked under Rainier netminder Vesa Toskala's legpad. However, the Rainiers recovered and Viktor Kozlov brought the crowd back into the game, and the score even, with his wristshot goal past Dwayne Roloson late in the first. Mike Fisher and Glen Murray exchanged goals thirty-two seconds apart early in the second frame before Viktor Kozlov scored his second of the night, on the power play, late in the period. Ladislav Nagy then scored, again on the power play, 6:34 into the third period, and the Rainiers - just as in Game Three - had a seemingly-insurmountable lead. (Astute readers will note the excellent use of foreshadowing here. Foreshadowing - a hallmark of quality literature!) In a span of less than three minutes, the game was tied! Mike Modano and Niclas Havelid both hit their outside shot rolls to beat Toskala, and the score was knotted with just 5:53 to play in the game. Would we see our first overtime game of the 2004 Finals? It's at this point in the recap that we bring you a flashback interlude to last game; Game Three. Game tied at four apiece, 6:32 left in the game, and Dany Heatley walks into the slot and snaps a shot past Roloson to win the game for Seattle. Back to tonight's Game Four: Game tied at four apiece, 2:30 left in the contest. Coming right to left across the middle of the slot, Dany Heatley takes a Mike Fisher pass from the sideboards and deposits the biscuit behind goaltender Roloson. Despite a furious rally in the final two minutes, Heatley's nineteenth goal of the postseason was again the edge. "Yeah, there was a sense of deja vu there," said Heatley afterwards. "Same building, same situation, same result. We still need one more, though." Heatley, the Rainiers' leading candidate for the Jean Beliveau Trophy as postseason most valuable player, now has nineteen goals, fifteen assists, and thirty-four points in Seattle's twenty-three games. He also has an eight-point lead in the scoring race over teammate Chris Drury. The series now returns to South Beach for Game Five, a must-win for the Hellcats. "We've been in this situation before," said Florida's Mike Modano. "It's not like we don't know what needs to be done. Win." STARBUCKS THREE STARS OF THE GAME: 1. Dany Heatley, Seattle - game-winning goal with 2:30 remaining, assist 2. Niclas Havelid, Florida - tied game late in third, two assists 3. Viktor Kozlov, Seattle - two goals RAINIERS NOTES: * Vesa Toskala, who has been in net for eight of Seattle's fifteen playoff wins, may be done for the playoffs thanks to a freak injury suffered late in tonight's game. "When [Dany Heatley] scored, I was so excited that I jumped up in the air. When I landed, I landed funny," according to Toskala. Toskala completed the game, but Rainiers officials are reporting that he has an "upper body injury" and is doubtful for Game Five. Jamie Storr, who has been travelling with the team since the Tacoma Titans' SCMHL playoff run ended two weeks ago, will accompany the squad to Miami for Game Five. * If the Rainiers are to close out the series in Game Five, they're going to need to start winning some draws. In tonight's game, Seattle won just six of twenty-seven faceoffs, largely as a result of Mike Fisher's one-for-sixteen effort. "It didn't cost us tonight, but it probably should have," said Fisher. "I've got to get the job done."
