TOPEKA (AP) - The "Kardiac Kids" are at it again. Four times in the 2004 Farley Cup playoffs, the Seattle Rainiers have faced elimination. After tonight, they're a perfect 4-0 after a dominating third-period performance against the hometown Topeka Scarecrows, taking Game Six by a 6-2 margin. Six different players scored for the visitors, who once again received sharp goaltending from Lemieux Trophy finalist Vesa Toskala (thirty-three saves, 7/8 GR). John Grahame, on the other hand, was pulled nine minutes into the third in favour of Tommy Salo. "Any goaltender will tell you that some times the puck doesn't bounce your way," said Grahame, who allowed five goals (4/7 GR) on twenty-seven shots. "I think that we're all looking forward to [Game Seven]." Said Rainiers captain Chris Drury: "This is the way that it should be - the top two teams in the conference playing one game to decide things. Ask anyone on our team if they'd have taken a home-ice game seven at the start of the year, and we would have taken it. We're excited." The game was tied at one goal apiece late in the second period, with Seattle's Heatley and Topeka's Alfredsson both scoring on split results. However, in the final minute of the second period Rainier defenseman Jaroslav Spacek - acquired midseason from the crosstown Sasquatch - found the back of the Scarecrow net. The Rainiers' good fortune continued early in the third as Patrick Marleau (1:08) and Andy McDonald (2:16) beat Grahame to chase him from the contest. Tommy Salo's presence provided initial blessings for the home team when Brian Leetch got the game within three, but a great save by Toskala on Olli Jokinen led to the Rainiers scoring courtesy Mike Fisher. "It's about time that we get some scoring from more than just Drury and Heatley," Rainiers coach Doug Norris said after the game. "Hopefully this isn't just an aberration. Hopefully they realize what we have a chance to accomplish." The aforementioned Game Seven will be played back at Seattle's Key Arena, date and time to be announced. Although the Rainiers are clearly happy to have the home-ice edge in this critical game, it should be pointed out that the teams have matching 1-2 records on home ice this series.
