In this brief talk I would like to go over some of the basics of blowing up in algebraic geometry and provide some explicit examples that arise when thinking about families of curves. For this first Slow Pitch of 2015 I would like to the keep the discussion at the introductory level, and there should be very little background knowledge needed. Note the late start (5pm).
